Rosa E. DeJesus

Rosa Elmina DeJesus, of Queens, New York was called home to meet the Lord on April 30, 2022 at the age of 94 years.

Those left to cherish Rosa’s memory are her daughter June, grandchildren Joy and Jeremy, Great Grandchildren, Mykal, Cassandra, Jay, Nyoka, November; Great Great Grandchildren, Nykolas and Isabella, as well as, her sisters Gloria, Genevieve, Clarice, brothers Napoleon (“Nappy”), and John, and their children and children’s children, along with many close friends who were like family. 

Rosa was born June 30, 1927, in the Dominican Republic.  Being the eldest of seven, her mother Alice relied on her the most.  She grew up in a humble home and was unfortunately not able to complete her schooling.  A difficult situation never stopped her from moving forward to provide for her family. With her sharp wit and intuition, she soon immigrated to New York City, where she worked as a seamstress.  Her spirit and drive helped her to become a professional, and she was able to establish her own Bridal shop called Rosie’s Bridal.  In her 60’s, she was able to go back to school, and graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan with a degree in Pattern Making and Designing.  

She lived in Queens, New York for over 52 years.  She was an active member of her Church and strong believer in the faith, carrying many people’s prayers in her heart. She was known as a “Prayer Warrior” and those that knew her, relied on her to be their liaison with the “Big Guy Upstairs.”

Rosa was a people person.  She had an uncanny ability to befriend anyone.  Any stranger, after meeting her once, would forever be held in her mind and a part of her life.  She was everyone’s mother, grandma, sister, cousin and dear friend.   She had a heart of pure gold, never hesitating to help people.  She was loved, and everyone felt her love.  She will be missed.
